BRIEF HISTORY
Christ Anointed Kingdom Church is a Bible believing Pentecostal ministry, with the vision of raising Kingdom Children for end - time dominion.
Its Headquarters is located at Km3, Apapa Oshodi Express way, Lagos and having branches in other states of the federation and overseas.
The Church grew out of former English Chapel that was established under the auspices of the C&S Church Movement (Ayo Ni o) Surulere, Lagos.
Sometime in 1990,the leadership of the C & S Church Movement decided to satisfy the desires of the non-Yoruba speaking members of the Church who had requested to have a place of worship that would conduct services in the English language.
Consequently, the leadership of the C&S Church Movement in 1990 commissioned Revd. C. J. Philip, assisted by Pastor Onyewe, to establish the English Chapel.
The chapel, which started in a small worship centre in the premises of the C & S Church movement, grew rapidly, with Revd. (Dr.) C. J. Philip and Pastor Tony Onyewe becoming the Shepherd and Deputy Shepherd, respectively.
In 1992, the chapel was allocated a parcel of land across the Canal and outside the main premises of the C & S Church for the erection of a bigger house of worship to cater for the increasing members of the Chapel. Shortly afterwards, the chapel's name was changed to Holy Ghost Anointed chapel as the name "English Chapel" was considered inappropriate, since it was neither established by an Englishman nor intended to cater for the English people.
From 1992, onwards, the manifestation of the power of the Holy Spirit got stronger by the passage of time, as mighty works were done by God through His Servants. Encouraged by this development, Dr C.J Philip was moved by the Holy Spirit to effect changes in the format and mode of worship from the typical C&S format to the Pentecostal ways of worship. The most noticeable effect of the change was that members now relied and depended largely on the efficacy of the power of the Holy Spirit for their healing and deliverance; protection and provision, rather than any other medium.
However, those changes did not go down well with the leaders of the parent church.
In March, 1996, Revd. (Dr.) C. J. Philip left the Church on sabbatical. On the directive of the Holy Spirit, he appointed Revd. (Dr.) B.I. Omomukuyo, as his successor. The appointment was supported and approved by the leadership of the parent Church. Revd. B.I. Omomukuyo continued the drive towards full Pentecostalism of the Church.
In February, 1999, the leadership of the parent Church, who had by now become uncomfortable with and intolerant to the Pentecostal drive and zeal of the members of the Holy Ghost chapel, denied them further access to their Church premises, including their place of worship.
Consequently upon the congregation being forced out of their place of worship, which was built and finance by them, members started to hold services under make-shift canopies along Opaleye Street, Aguda, Surulere. While there, they were under the mercy of the elements of the sun, the rains and the winds. This continued for over eight months until God provided them a place along the Expressway in August, 1999.
The church relocated from that temporary shed to the present site in November, 1999. In October 2004, the name of the Church was again changed from the Holy Ghost Anointed Church to Christ Anointed Kingdom Church. This was done to accord with the Holy Spirit- inspired vision of the Church.
